March Madness: Composers STUDENT VERSION

NOTE: THIS IS THE STUDENT VERSION. Slides contain space for students to research each composer and song. They will add text boxes, pictures and information into each slide. Worksheets are for students to complete. No teacher version needed; just be aware that the students will be looking up information and completing the slides and/or worksheet pages.

Want to introduce your students to a variety of composers? This is the March Madness Bracket for you! Students will listen to composers of various genres, periods, and ages. As they listen to the songs, they will determine which songs continue into each bracket until they select their winning song.

Composers include Mozart, Beethoven, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Orff, and Bizet, but also many influential composers that students may not know such as Caroline Shaw, Dominique Carpentier, Arturo Márquez, Nia Imani, Unsuk Chin, and Heitor Villa-Lobos. Film score composers include Hans Zimmer and John Williams. Bobby McFerrin and Chiquinha Gonzaga are also featured.
